Why it helps
Moving your tiles around can help you spot two hands you'd like to build.

Practise this lesson

Two racks give you room to explore two possible hands. Try an arrangement, see what it suggests, and change it when you need to.

Sort your tiles into two possible hands

Your hidden tiles are available to either of your Siamese hands. Move them between your two racks whenever you want. Moving a hidden tile does not commit it to that rack.

Let the racks help you see your ideas. Try gathering tiles for one possible row on each rack, then look at what each still needs.

Try an arrangement, then change it

For this exercise, put the 2468 tiles on rack 1 and the winds on rack 2. Compare each rack with its pinned row to see what is missing.

Now try swapping the two plans between racks. You still have the same tiles and possibilities, so you're free to arrange them in a way that helps you.

Know what becomes fixed

An exposure stays on the rack you choose when calling. A declared hand also stays fixed. Only the hidden tiles remain free to move.

Choosing rows that need different tiles can make the two hands easier to build. That is a useful strategy, not a requirement.

Remember

Hidden tiles can move. Exposures and declared hands stay with their rack.
